Being in the top 5 percentile (ATAR 95.65) of high school results granted me the privilege of enrolling in the course of my choice: Engineering (Mechatronics) and Commerce Specialist (Finance).

2017 - 2021

Year 1
My first year was primarily engaging in a broad spectrum of engineering. A highlight of this year was designing a bridge, later to be made out of spaghetti to take a various set of loads. Our teams design did extremely well and even won one the best strength to weight ratio section. Through my commerce degree, I learnt the financial basics although I do not believe they hold true today. It was here I choose to specalise in finance and mechatronics.
Year 2
In this year we put some of the skills we learnt into practice. For one of my units, we built a navigation app using javascript. This app used a combination of: UI designed by the team; a series of equations (including the curvature of the earth); and google earth data to predict a path to get from one point to another. Some other highlights include building a vending machine using a combination of traditional machine processes and 3D printing.
Year 3
One of the most exciting and useful subjects this year was an investemnt analysis class. We picked growthpoint a REIT investment group as our ASX 200 company. We then compiled a large report that included: SWOT analysis; industry overview; competitive positioning; financial analysis using their annual financial reports. Overall we recommened for people to hold. Looking back (before corona) that advice was correct. I also took part in the Warman competition; we designed a robot from scratch, to move a set of 20 balls to another container. We used an arduino to contol the rover.
Year 4
There have been plenty of challanges this year and I have adapetd to these well. At the moment, I am designing a beer bottle opening robot. This robot uses machine vision and learning to detect the height of the bottle. We use a rover to move a robotic arm over the bottle and a combination of a motor and servo to crack the bottle cap. One of the most exciting parts of this project is seeing some of my control systems knowledge come to life!
